New Cultural Behaviours for an Apparel Retail Company

A Taligens Case Study on Business Transformation

The Starting Point

Our client was the Founder and CEO of a prominent apparel retail company. The CEO brought us in when the company was just a start- up. He was looking for support in developing out his leadership team. Through initial conversations, we partnered to build out a cultural foundation for the company, along with an employee training program to support the company in what they were beginning to experience as explosive growth.

As we started work with them, they began opening stores quickly, which included the challenges of store design, recruiting staff, training young first-time managers, managing inventory, and ensuring great customer experience for each location.

The Journey

In our work with them, we developed a common language that would set the foundation for
the culture going forward.

We designed initiatives to build cultural and strategic alignment, beginning with the leadership team as new members were hired.

We held regular alignment meetings to introduce leaders to new language and behaviours for effective management. We designed and delivered their annual all-staff meeting along with other meetings as practices to reinforce the new behaviours, to build unity across departments and to ensure everyone was involved in the change that was taking place.
The language and practices helped staff communicate with speed and efficiency across all departments and geographies.

At Taligens, we help our clients imagine and build inspired futures by reconnecting people to the meaning of their work.
